Raj ki Aag! Thackeray's comeuppance....

This picture was taken at the Citadel Awards' function in Pune recently.

This appeared in Asian Age today....

Raj ki Aag - Thackeray presents a new face…

Can a Tiger change his stripes… a leopard, its spots, a shark, its fins? No, na?But the ‘new’, ‘improved’ version of Raj Thackeray which was dramatically unveiled on 21 st August at Mumbai’s historic Azad Maidan, took everybody by surprise – friends and foes alike. Perhaps his game plan was only known to key aides. But the man [...]

MetKal in Monsoon!

I’ve been there 4-5 times before but not visited in Monsoon, the region is wonderful in monsoon, with gusty winds and swirling clouds, misty mountains, lush green valleys, in grueling winds, numerous waterfalls and heavy downpour . So have to dig experience to the thrills of getting myself into a heavenly place, once again I chosen to visit Metkal in a fine Rainy day.

A long exhilarating bike ride in incessant pouring rain we reached at Hosangadi, a small hotel used to be opening just as we reached and [...]

Secret Issues, Open Answers

“ Women’s intimate health, should the issues remain hushed or is it time we spoke out? ”
There are two types of women's health issues. Some on which, all of us should speak out, and some, on which we shouldnt waste much time .  A lot of these depend on what strata of society we are looking at
And yes, I will talk about health issues, where girls in villages, who have just started menstruating, are forced to leave school because of non existent hygeinic toilet facilities.
I [...]

Itchy Feet

I was 15 when I first saw this song from Kinara and was fascinated by the place. Mandu. And it has been on my wish list for many many years now. Thinking back, I am surprised that at a time when the travel bug had not bitten (or I was not even aware of the existence of the travel bug!), a scene from a movie made me want to go. This song seems to have been shot outside the monsoon season, considered the best time to visit Mandu.

Finally, this year, I made it to Mandu. Unluckily, there have not been enough [...]

Whispering to God

One one of my visits to Ganapatipule , as soon as I entered the Hindu temple complex, I was awestruck by the spiritual vibrations around me. I am not a religious person, but I could feel the presence of Lord Ganesha spiritually in the people. On the path leading up to the temple, there were rows of shops selling flowers, coconuts, sweets, incense sticks and other things that are required for offering prayers to the God.

Inside the temple, the sanctum’s gold plated dome sparkled with the glow of an opulent [...]

Melbourne 5D/4N dream itinerary

Australia has been on my radar since few years. Having visited North and South America and key countries in Asia (Srilanka, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand), my next target is Australia and Europe. But it is a bit expensive affair to visit Australia from India for a middle class family. Return ticket costs about 50k onwards in regular airlines (even the cheapest Air Asia which connects via Kuala Lumpur costs about 36k INR onwards). Other expenses included, minimum one lakh INR will be required per person for [...]

Coal-Gate Scandal –Why CAG’s numbers are Wrong

Join Facebook Page of Scaling New Heights Blog: (First Published by Roy Skaria in Cougar-Rides.com) The CAG under Vinod Rai, seems to have made a habit of leaking to the media sensational figures just before a Parliament session. And there are people who may believe the fantastic figures being quoted, from 10 lakh crores (since corrected by Vinod Rai to a "lower" figure of 186000 crores).

The Supreme Court absolved Finance Minister P Chidambaram of all the four charges in the 2G spectrum scam, providing a major relief to him and the Congress-led UPA at a time when the government is facing a tough time in Parliament following allegations of irregularities in the allocation of coal blocks.

Mother Marry School Van

This happens only in India? I only hope it is not the same spelling on the school doors as well! And the van did have a registration number, I have obscured it.
